ListItRI.com invites community groups, businesses to list their events online
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (July 28, 2004): Vega Interactive, LLC, creators of the online classifieds Web site ListItRI.com , announces today that it will offer local community groups and businesses free listings for events throughout Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts on www.ListItRI.com.
The ListItRI.com Web site, which features local online classified listings, is designed to help consumers in the local community buy, sell, promote, and communicate through user-generated content. The all-subscription Web site was created in early 2003 by Tom Viall (Barrington resident) and Linda Woods (Providence resident), two former OSO.com managers. "We're launching our online event listings in an effort to recapture the comprehensive listings formerly offered by the now-defunct OSO.com," states Linda Woods, managing partner of Vega Interactive. "People tell us they missed OSO's event listings although there are now many other sites in the area that offer some. We hope to be more comprehensive to fill the void and be a one-stop site for local entertainment planning."
Anyone who is interested may register on ListItRI and post unlimited event listings at no charge. Registration also entitles users to one free 90-day listing in any of the site's other listing categories. The cost for unlimited listings, with photos, anywhere on the site for a 30-day period is $9.95. The cost for unlimited listings anywhere on the site, with photos, for an entire year will remain at the introductory rate of $39.95.
ListItRI.com owners offer increased statewide and regional exposure to event listings through its partnership with WJAR TV-10 and Cox Communications. All turnto10.com users are able to browse all ListItRI.com classified areas (Automotive, General Merchandise and Real Estate, as well as local Services, Restaurant and Event listings) without having to leave the turnto10.com site. ListItRI.com is promoted from the Cox High Speed Internet service start page at http://rhodeisland.cox.net. "These partnerships can prove invaluable to local arts and civic groups who often rely on publicity to generate audience awareness or ticket sales," adds Ms. Woods. To date, ListItRI.com has registered over 5,000 memberships on its site and currently has over 1,400 listings online.
"We see this as a return to our roots," comments Tom Viall, managing partner of Vega Interactive. "OSO was supported by paid advertising which allowed us to offer free services like events and classifieds. Unfortunately, the market just couldn't support that kind of business model. ListItRI charges a nominal fee to post classified and business listings and that has proven to be extremely successful," continues Mr. Viall. "When we prepared to launch our Events area, we decided to make it free - as a ‘thank you' to all the users who have made us a success in our first year of business."
